Turkey Thai Larb
This isn't quite your traditional Thai Larb. It’s usually made with minced pork and cilantro, but today we’re using ground turkey and basil (you can sub basil for cilantro). I’ll have to admit, turkey is NOT my favorite, so I’m always trying to find new ways to make it taste better than it does. Listen to me when I say this, you really can’t tell this is turkey! The flavors are dynamite. Have dinner or lunch ready in under 10 minutes.
Ingredients
1lb ground turkey
Half an onion (or shallots)
4 garlic cloves
¼ cup soy sauce or tamari (reduced sodium)
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp chili paste (Sambal)
1 cup basil
½ cup mint
¼ cup parsley
2 tbsp of freshly ground pepper
Lime wedges
The How To:
Heat up your skillet for a medium/high heat. Add your onions and cook for a few minutes. We don’t want them super soft at this point. Then add your garlic and cook for 1 minute. Continue on adding your ground turkey and cook for 2-3 minutes more. At this point, add your soy sauce, fish sauce and chili paste. Continue to cook until all the meat is cooked through. Then add all your herbs and pepper. Once all incorporated and cooked, top with a squeeze of lime and serve with jasmine rice and a cucumber sesame salad.
